Park Rules and Fees
Visiting the Park
All daytime visitors wishing to see the historic cabins and/or the mill, are welcome to do so free of charge. This includes day riders and those who wish to utilize the park for other family recreation such as picnics and other family outings. Should you wish to donate to the park your tax deductible donations are very helpful and are greatly appreciated.
Camping
Hulston Mill Park provides great camping accommodations such as showers, flush toilets, electric and water hookups, all in a peaceful natural setting. All visitors camping overnight are required to register prior to setting up camp.
When you arrive at the park please pick up a registration packet on your way into the Park. You will see a red donation box on your right. In the black box below there are envelopes. Fill out the required fields on the registration form provided. Your license plate number must be on the form so that we will know you are properly registered during routine camp inspections. You MUST pre-register and pre pay.
Camp fees are $15.00 per night with electric, and $5.00 per night for primitive camping. Make checks payable to the Dade County Historical Society.
Please Note: If your license plate number doesn't appear on your registration packet, it will appear on our non-payment report following routine camp collections. Please be honest. Pre-register and prepay for the nights you camp. Help us keep the horse camp open to the public.
First Come - First Serve
All camp spaces, electric or primitive are to be utilized on a first-come, first-serve basis, with the exception of organized events when circumstances mandate that electric spaces and other key areas be reserved
Special Events
All organized events will be posted on the park bulletin board weeks in advance, and are also posted on this page. (See Scheduled Events). When the park is reserved by a group for a special event, at the discretion of event coordinators you may be admitted to the park as a paid participant only. There are several accesses to the Hulston Reserve Area from the public parking lots provided by the Missouri Department of Conservation, and there are camping accommodations available at Horse Haven Campground which is located on the South end of the reserve area, should you wish to access the trails apart from a scheduled organized event at Hulston Mill Park on a given date.
Animal Containment
Horses may either be tied to your trailer or on a picket line between trees. Horses should never be allowed to damage trees.
Portable pens are allowed in the North pastures but should only utilize enough space for the safe containment of horses. Fencing off larger areas for grazing purposes is prohibited. Portable pens are not permitted at electric campsites or near the Mill area.
DOGS
Well behaved dogs are allowed at the park but must remain under the supervision and control of their owners.
DO NOT bring dogs that show viscous propensities toward humans or viscous or playful propensities toward horses. Dogs that bark whine or howl to the extent of disturbing the peace of other visitors are strictly forbidden. Dog owners are responsible for the behavior of their dogs and will be held responsible for any and all damages they either create or directly inflict.
Dogs are not allowed on the trails per Missouri Department of Conservation rules.
The Trails
There are 14 miles of beautiful scenic trails at the Hulston Mill Conservation Area which borders Stockton Lake. The reserve area is under the management of the Missouri Department of Conservation and all Department regulations apply.
